I
have been riding since I was five years old - so nine years! |
| What
was the name of your first Pony or horse? If you showed then,
in what division did you show? |
My first pony was named Pepper, but we called him Little Pepper,
because we already had a horse named Pepper when we got him. He
was a sorrel Welsh pony who had been a hunter-jumper Pony Club
pony, but I taught him to ride western and we did everything with
him and I used him for open shows and 4-H. We did showmanship,
western horsemanship, pole bending, barrel racing, hunt seat equitation
(he was really great at that!) and pony English pleasure. I then
passed him down to my little sister and she even showd in a costume
class - he wore a hula skirt! |
| Who
was your first trainer: |
Veda
Gardner |
| List
your current horses ponies etc: |
My
quarter horse, Marcus Riffik, barn name Marcus,
age five, 15.3 hand black quarter horse gelding. He is very fun
to ride hunt seat and he is gorgeous! |
| Worthy's
Sir Worth-a-Lot, barn name Worthy, age 10, 16 hand bay
ASB gelding. He belongs to William Woods Univerity. He is my favorite
horse to show because he is five-gaited! |
| I
also show other people's horses for them. |

For
quarter horses & hunt seat, showmanship & western - Colleen
Baker, Smithville, MO and for saddlbreds & saddle seat - Annalisa
Hall, Kansas City, MO |
| What
is it about his/her training style that you like? |
Colleen
is a very patient and quiet trainer, though her horses know she
means business - she is very good at helping me make my horses
look good in the show ring. Annalisa is very attentive to detail
and strives to make my best better - she is very encouraging and
positive. |
| What
is your favorite color for a horse? |
Bay
or black |
| What
is your funniest, most embarrassing moment: |
Two
things - I was showing Pepper in a walk-trot class when I was
little, and I had to do a western horsemanship pattern. He pooped
throughout the first part of the pattern and would not trot and
poop at the same time, then when we had to do rail work, he stopped
on the rail and peed! The other embarrassing moment was at the
American Royal showing Zippos Eternal Light, a quarter horse I
owned. We placed in hunt seat equitation and when I went to get
my ribbon, he spooked at it, and I ended up in a pile of poop
until after my next class.
|
| What
was your proudest moment in riding/showing? |
At
the Missouri State Fair Youth Horse Show, I won saddleseat equitation,
saddleseat English pleasure, saddle type showmanship and hunt
seat equitation all in the same year! |
| Future
Plans and goals: |
I want to continue showing both quarter horses and saddlebreds.
I want to concentrate on equitation and hopefully there will be
some nice saddlebreds for me to continue showing. I am currently
looking for a new quarter horse to show at AQHA and MHSA shows
and want to show in hunter under saddle, hunt seat eq, and possibly
equitation over fences. |
